A film of dance living within shifting natural environments. We move from the desire for our collected embodiment practices and movement scoring to mold along with the shapes, textures, and movements of the unique physical landscapes. We move from the intention to allow the environment to both reshape and camouflage our presence. Together we discovered site locations within New York State: Highland Park, Bear Mountain State Park, and Sterling Forest State Park that brought intrigue, wonder, and vitality.  

Our collaborator, Jon Perry Davis, Brooklyn based multimedia artist, filmed, edited and composed for Vitality in still/ we lay. Davis created the musical score using a keyboard, guitar, harmonica, and natural sound samples. In addition we worked with Sophie Stratyner, a Brooklyn based costume designer and artisan, who used only found fabrics and foraged dyestuff (leaves, roots, vegetables, flowers) to create uniquely patterned dresses and hoods for us.
